"Forest Ocarina Itsuki/Oto" is a flute in the original shape of ocarina player Makoto Yasukawa.
Makoto Yasukawa originally traveled around the country singing songs as a folk singer. During that time, I came across the idea of making musical instruments, made wooden flutes, and played them.
By the time I was able to perform with wooden flutes in Taiwan and South Korea, it had been a while since I had tongue cancer.
Six years after living with cancer, this whistle was completed.
The musical instrument called "Ocarina of the Forest Itsuki Oto" (hereafter, Itsuki Oto) was designed and completed by making the best use of the technology we have developed so far.
Itsuki Oto is a small wooden flute that fits comfortably in your hand.15 scales can be produced by combining semitones (nine scales and semitones of the scale from C major to re)
In addition to the unique soft and warm tone that wood possesses, we carefully make use of the warm texture and fragrance of wood.
Her husband, Makoto Yasukawa, passed away shortly after "Itsuki Oto" was completed.
In the eight years since then, I've been able to continue "Itsuki/Oto" with the help of so many people.
The creators, lecturers, and people who cooperate are increasing one by one.A small flute is still able to keep playing like this.
With the help of producers, performers, and customers, "Tree/Oto" has evolved little by little.
Currently, we mainly use "hoe", "cherry blossom" and "aodamo" from Nagano prefecture.Various types of wood such as "maple" and "persimmon" are used to make flutes with distinctive tones, and the flute is evolving day by day as a musical instrument.
We also hold workshops and classes at schools where children can make their own using local wood.Recently, we have developed a flute finished with lacquer using the care of Ichida persimmon from Ina.
In the process, we are taking on new challenges in order to move forward with the cooperation of Kiso lacquer craftsmen.

安川誠はもともとフォークシンガーとして全国を周り歌を歌ってきました。 その中で、楽器製作ということに出会い、木の笛を作り、また演奏も行なってきました。 そんな、木の笛での演奏が台湾・韓国への公演もできるようになった頃は、舌ガンを患ってしばらく経ってからのことでした。 ガンとともに生きて６年目、この笛が出来上がりました。 今までの、技術を生かし、デザインし完成させたのが「森のオカリナ 樹・音（以下、樹・音）」という楽器です。 樹・音は、手のなかにスッポリおさまってしまうような小さな木の笛です。半音をあわせると15の音階を出す事ができます（ハ長調のド～レまでの音階の9音階と半音） 木が持つ独特な、柔らかく暖かい音色はもちろん、木の温かな手ざわり、香りを大切に生かしてつくっています。 「樹・音」が出来上がってから間もなくして、夫・安川誠はこの世を去りました。 以来８年間、本当に沢山の方の協力を得ながら、「樹・音」をなんとかここまで続けてくることが出来ました。 制作者、講師、協力してくださる方も、一人また一人と増えて。小さな笛が今でもこうして音を奏で続ける事ができています。 そして、製作者・演奏者・お客様の助けを得ながら、「樹・音」は少しずつ進化してきました。 現在は、長野県産の「くわ」「さくら」「アオダモ」を中心に、「楓」「柿」等の、様々な縁ある材木を使い個性あふれる音色の笛が出来、楽器として日々進化しています。 また、地元の木を使い、子どもたちに作ってもらうワークショップや学校での授業を行ったり、最近では、伊那の「市田柿」の気を使い「漆」で仕上げた笛の開発。 その過程では、木曽の漆職人の方に協力をいただきながら、歩みを進めるべく、新たなことにも挑戦しています。 様々な可能性を秘めた小さな笛。 是非、お手にとって世界に一つしかない笛を、可愛がって頂けたら幸いです。
